Teaching Philosophy

Vocalist

As a singer teacher, the art of juggling both worlds can be challenging. However, developing as an artist is a full time, never-ending adventure. There is a vast amount of repertoire available to singers, and I plan to discover as much as I can. I thoroughly enjoy singing a variety of repertoire from German lieder to opera arias, and French melodies, English art songs, and Italian ariettes. At the same time, I like songs from the musical theatre repertoire, vocal jazz, contemporary worship, spirituals and pop. Variety really is the spice of life and the element that shapes a singer!

Voice Instructor

Noel enjoys teaching students of all different backgrounds and ages. I am classically-trained, but I welcome most other genres. My teaching philosophy is rooted in whole body singing. I believe it is important to sing with our entire bodies, to become aware of our potential by experiencing mind and body connectedness. Often, singers are not aware of their own physical habits, places of tension, and even negative patterns of thought, which keep them from having vocal breakthrough. It is my goal to help each singer identify these areas of growth, to find solutions, to teach proper vocal technique, and to ultimately train them to be the best musicians and vocalists they can be.
